DAISY DTB Production TRAINING
Porto, Portugal / 1 - 5 March 2010
The DAISY's training is an initiative of GTAEDES (Working Group for the Support of Students with Handicaps in Higher Education). The organisation of the training session are of responsability of Porto's University and Knowledge Society Agency (UMIC). The trainers are from DAISY Consortium.
Note: the training session will occur in English.

Prerequisites
- Minimum Usage of Computer (File/folder management, document creation etc.);
- Some exposure to or familiarity with, or knowledge of DAISY.
Expected Outcomes
- Understanding of the scope, usability and functionality of the DAISY standards
- Ability of participants to use DAISY playback tools to play DAISY 2.02 digital talking books
- Ability of participants to use DAISY production tools to create DAISY full text digital talking books
- Understanding of the Daisy DTB fileset

First day (1st March):

Exercise 7: Starting work on final project

Software Playback Tools
AMIS | free open source DAISY playback software developed by the DAISY Consortium. Highlights of AMIS include its self-voicing interface, playback rate control, text searching and bookmarking, reading options, and page style customization. AMIS is available in multiple languages. AMIS runs on Windows and supports DAISY 2.02 and DAISY/NISO-2005 books.
